Mr. Workman is a member of MSD’s Tactical Investments Group, where he heads the group that is responsible for managing both the third-party fund investment activities for MSD Partners as well as the overall investment portfolios for several Dell Family entities, including the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. He joined MSD in February 2003 as a member of that group, became head of it in January 2005 and became a Partner of MSD in January 2016. He joined MSD from Alpine Investors, L.P., a private equity firm based in San Francisco, where he worked on deal sourcing and portfolio company operations. Before Alpine, Mr. Workman was an associate in foreign exchange corporate sales at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York from 2000 to 2002. He served on active duty as a lieutenant in the Armor branch of the United States Army from 1994 to 1997; following active duty, he served in the Army National Guard until 2003.
Mr. Workman earned an A.B. cum laude in Politics (with a Certificate in Political Economy) from Princeton University in 1994, and a joint J.D./M.B.A. from the University of Michigan Law School and Ross School of Business in 2000. Mr. Workman is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
