Mr. Samiuddin is the Head of Risk Management and Portfolio Hedging on the MSD Partners Credit Team, and a Principal of MSD Partners. He joined MSD 2011.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Samiuddin was a Principal in the Tactical Investment Group focusing on systematic strategies, quantitative research and risk management. He also oversaw derivative strategies and hedges at the firm level. Prior to that, he was the head of Quantitative and Data Research at the firm. Prior to that, he was the quant strategist on the trading desk.
Prior to MSD, Mr. Samiuddin was an Analyst at Silver Point Capital from 2007 to 2009 and he was an Analyst at Morgan Stanley from 2006 to 2007 working in the Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) group.
Mr. Samiuddin earned an M.S. in Finance and Risk Engineering from New York University whereby his graduate research work was concentrated in volatility models and tail risks. He also helped teach a course in Risk Management and Derivatives at NYU. He also earned an M.S. in Computer Science focusing on Algorithm Design and Distributed Computing from The University of Missouri and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Aerospace/Fluid Mechanics from Aligarh University.
Mr. Samiuddin serves on the Financial Advisory Board of the Trulaske School of Business at the University of Missouri. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of Tau Beta Pi, The Engineering Honors Society.
